Who you call depends on who pays for the trip.
Medi-Cal members book rides through their Medi-Cal health plan: call the member services number on your plan ID card. A wheelchair van or gurney ride needs a Physician Certification Statement from your doctor. Ask early, since plans usually want a few business days' notice.
Say what you need: walk-on, wheelchair or stretcher. Ask if a driver waits during the appointment or comes back. Get the total price before you book, including wait time and mileage. Ask if drivers help door to door, not only curb to curb.
Facility counts cover Los Angeles County.
4,143 treatment stations. Dialysis riders usually travel three times a week, the steadiest repeat work in NEMT.
Treatment shifts that start at 5 PM or later, so return trips run into the evening.
Acute care and critical access hospitals. Discharges and follow-up visits drive same-day requests.

Non-emergency medical transportation is a ride to or from medical care for people who have no other way to get there but do not need an ambulance. That includes dialysis, doctor visits, therapy and hospital discharges, by car, wheelchair van or stretcher van.
Our directory lists 137 NEMT companies based in the Los Angeles area: 20 in Los Angeles itself and 117 in nearby cities such as Glendale, Pasadena and Long Beach. Many more serve the area from bases outside it.
Most listed companies run ambulatory and wheelchair vans. Fewer run stretcher vans, so call ahead and confirm. See our guide to gurney and stretcher transport.
