Who you call depends on who pays for the trip.
Most Texas Medicaid members are in a health plan (STAR, STAR+PLUS, STAR Kids or STAR Health) and book rides through that plan: call the member services number on your plan ID card. Members not in a plan book through the state's Medical Transportation Program at 1-877-633-8747. Book at least two days before the appointment; same-day rides are available for hospital discharges, pharmacy trips and urgent care.
Say what you need: walk-on, wheelchair or stretcher. Ask if a driver waits during the appointment or comes back. Get the total price before you book, including wait time and mileage. Ask if drivers help door to door, not only curb to curb.
