Who we are

NEMTrepreneur is a publication and directory for people who run non-emergency medical transportation companies: owners, dispatchers, billing leads and fleet managers. We cover broker relationships, Medicaid rules and rates, compliance, fleet costs and the software operators use to run trips.

NEMTrepreneur is published by NEMTrepreneur LLC.

Contributors and guest authors are named on every piece they write, with a short bio and their company. Everything else is written or edited in house and reviewed by the editorial team before it runs.

Sponsors and our rankings

Here is how we keep sponsors from shaping what you read:

  • Public rubrics and sources. Our NEMT software rankings publish the scoring rubric and link the source behind each score. The pricing and support comparisons are sourced from each vendor's own website. Nobody on our side hand-places a vendor.
  • No benefit of the doubt for the sponsor. Bambi is scored on the same rubric as every other vendor. If a claim cannot be checked against a public source, the sponsor gets no credit for it, the same as anyone else.
  • Any vendor can send a correction. Vendors, customers and competitors can challenge a score at any time. We check the source and log any change in the page's changelog.
  • Sponsorship never buys coverage. No sponsor, at any level, buys news coverage, a ranking, a score or a spot in an editorial list.

How we report

Operators make money decisions from what we publish, so we work from the documents that actually set the rules and the rates.

Primary sources first

  • State Medicaid agencies: fee schedules, provider manuals, bulletins and NEMT program pages.
  • Statutes and rules: state code and administrative rules, the eCFR and the Federal Register.
  • Broker and vendor documentation: provider manuals, credentialing requirements, published pricing, help centers and release notes.
  • Federal data: CMS, FMCSA, OSHA, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and other federal agencies.

Press releases, news reports and other publications can point us to a story, but we go back to the underlying source before we repeat a figure. If we cannot check a claim, we cut it.

Every figure is dated

Rates, fees, requirements and prices change. Each figure we publish says when it was true ("as of" a date), and the sources are listed on the piece so you can check them yourself.

Re-checked on a schedule

Pages that carry rates and rules are re-checked on a set schedule, not only when someone notices a problem. Every December we run a year-rollover review of state guides, rates, fees and calendars before the new year starts. Software rankings are refreshed quarterly.

Use of machine intelligence tools

NEMTrepreneur uses machine intelligence tools to help research and draft articles, guides and news summaries. Facts, figures and sources are checked against primary sources before anything is published, and the editorial team is responsible for every piece that runs.

Contributors may use machine intelligence tools to help them write. The experience, numbers and claims must be their own, and they stand behind every fact, as our contributor guidelines say.

Some of what you see on NEMTrepreneur is paid. Here is how to tell paid from editorial:

  • Labeled "Sponsored." Sponsored articles and sponsored guest posts carry a Sponsored label and a disclosure line. Ads and other paid placements are labeled Sponsored.
  • Sponsor links are marked. Links to a sponsor carry rel="sponsored", so search engines treat them as paid.
  • No competitor links in sponsored content. A sponsored piece never links to a competitor of its sponsor.
  • Paid directory listings are labeled. Verified, Featured and Category Sponsor listings are paid and labeled as such. They buy placement in the directory. They do not change editorial scores, rankings or report cards.

Sponsorship options and prices are public on the Advertise page. Sponsorship buys an audience, never an opinion.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes. When we do, we want to hear about it.

  • How to send one. Email contact@nemtrepreneur.com with the page address, what is wrong and, if you have it, the source that shows the right answer.
  • What we do. We review every correction we receive and fix confirmed errors.
  • How we show it. When a correction changes a fact, a figure or a conclusion, we note it on the page with the date. Typos and broken links are fixed without a note.
  • Vendors in our rankings. Any vendor can send a correction at any time. Score changes are recorded in the changelog at the bottom of the rankings page.

News tips and contributors

Have news? A new contract, service area, vehicle class, hire or acquisition can go to the Newswire for free. Submit news. Our editors decide what runs.

Want to write? Operators, dispatch and billing leads, brokers, compliance and insurance pros and consultants can pitch a contributor article. Editorial contributions are free and never paid for. Pieces that feature the author's own product go in the labeled sponsored track. See Write for NEMTrepreneur for the guidelines and the pitch form.

Independence and conflicts

  • Contributors disclose. Contributor articles name the author's company and role, and any affiliation with a company mentioned in the piece is disclosed on the piece.
  • No attacks. We do not publish attacks on named competitors, brokers or people. Criticism comes with sources.
  • No patient information. We never publish patient names, trip details or other protected health information.
