What is GPS trip verification?

GPS trip verification is the use of recorded location data to confirm each trip's pickup point, drop-off point, times and route mileage. The data comes from the driver app, a vehicle telematics unit, or both, and is attached to the trip record automatically. Many brokers and state Medicaid programs now require GPS-verified trip data for payment, and some compare submitted mileage against mapped distances.

Why GPS verification matters for NEMT

GPS data protects honest providers. It settles mileage disputes, proves on-time arrival, documents no-shows, and makes fraud accusations easy to rebut. It also removes the manual odometer entry that produces most mileage errors. If your software does not capture GPS breadcrumbs on every trip, you are carrying audit risk you do not need to carry.
