What is a standing order?

A standing order (also called a recurring trip or subscription trip) is a ride that repeats on a fixed schedule for a defined period: the same rider, addresses and times, for example Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 5:30 a.m. for dialysis. Brokers issue standing orders with an authorization that covers the whole series, and dispatch software generates the individual trips automatically.

Why standing orders matter for NEMT

Standing orders are the most valuable trips in NEMT. They are predictable, they cluster (dialysis units run fixed chair schedules), they let you build stable driver routes, and they fill the early-morning and mid-afternoon slots that are otherwise hard to sell. A provider whose schedule is 60 percent standing orders has a business; one living on same-day broker trips has a job.
