What is a facility contract?

A facility contract is a direct service agreement between an NEMT provider and a healthcare facility, such as a hospital, dialysis clinic, skilled nursing facility, assisted living community or behavioral health program. The facility books rides for its patients or residents and pays the provider on invoice, usually monthly, at rates negotiated in the contract.

Why facility contracts matter for NEMT

Facility contracts deliver predictable, clustered volume: the same pickups, the same destinations, often standing orders three times a week. They pay better than most broker rates and, unlike broker trips, they are not reassigned to a competitor at the last minute. Winning them takes a professional pitch, proof of insurance and compliance, and a track record of on-time performance. Dialysis centers and hospital discharge departments are the most common starting points.
