What are rider notifications?

Rider notifications are automated messages sent by dispatch software at key moments: booking confirmation, a reminder the day before, a heads-up when the driver is a few minutes out, and arrival at the curb. They go by text, automated voice call or app, and can include the pickup window and a number to call to cancel. Facilities can receive parallel notifications for their patients.

Why rider notifications matter for NEMT

No-shows and slow loading are the two biggest sources of wasted vehicle time, and both drop when riders know the driver is coming. Providers that turn on reminders and arrival alerts typically see no-show rates fall by a third and dwell time shrink because riders are waiting at the door. Notifications also reduce inbound "where is my ride" calls, which frees the dispatcher. Confirm that messages contain no PHI beyond what the rider needs.
