What is a driver app?
A driver app is the smartphone or tablet application that connects drivers to dispatch. It delivers the day's manifest, updates it in real time, provides turn-by-turn navigation, records trip status (en route, arrived, rider on board, completed, no-show) with GPS and timestamps, captures the rider's signature, and lets drivers message dispatch and report incidents. Most NEMT software platforms include one; some brokers also require use of their own app.
Why driver apps matter for NEMT
The driver app is where compliance data is born. Status changes with GPS stamps prove on-time performance and mileage, mandatory signature capture eliminates the most common denial, and instant manifest updates end the phone calls that consumed dispatchers' days.
