What is an assisted living community?
An assisted living community is a residential setting for older adults who need help with daily activities such as medication, meals and mobility but do not require the 24-hour nursing care of a skilled nursing facility. Residents typically pay privately and keep their own doctors, so they need regular transportation to medical appointments outside the community.
Why assisted living matters for NEMT
Assisted living residents are the ideal private-pay customer: they have appointments, they have means, and the community often books on their behalf or recommends a provider to families. Many communities run a van for group outings but cannot cover individual medical trips. A relationship with the activities director or concierge, a simple booking process and drivers who treat residents well produce repeat business at rates you set.
